"If this was all there was " January 2006 I was recently asked by a publisher friend, to write something very short, on healing. A “one-shot-wonder” was what she called it. This is what I came up with, and - yes – if this was all I could say about illness and healing, I would be satisfied with it: Our illnesses are our teachers. They always come, to get us to learn something – a lesson in Life, some wisdom. If we hate our illness, or ignore it or push it away, then we fuel it, and it gets stronger, because it has to ‘knock louder on the door' to get us to hear. If, on the other hand, we thank the illness for being there, and welcome it, and learn the lesson, then there is no longer any reason for it to exist. We can literally ‘love our illness to death'. |
